Meet Jeremy

Jeremy Wong is a born-and-raised Calgarian and lives in the Ward 4 community of Edgemont with his wife, Janice, and their two young children. The son of Chinese immigrants who fled the communist takeover during the Vietnam war, he cherishes Canada’s democratic values, fueling his commitment to public service. He loves Calgary and is committed to building a strong and prosperous Calgary for generations to come.  

Work and Experience

Jeremy has over 15 years of leadership experience that includes senior policy making roles with provincial and municipal government, as well as service as a community pastor in the Ward 4 community of Beddington. During his time at the legislature, he was instrumental in passing multiple pieces of legislation as well as advising on the establishment of the Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation. He also has extensive experience in political campaigning and board governance.

Jeremy is a strategic leader in policy-making, communications, stakeholder engagement, and community development. He is committed to using his skills and experience to ensure that the voices of Ward 4 residents are listened to and that the City is focused on common sense priorities and practical solutions. 

Education

Jeremy holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Calgary, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Divinity from Ambrose Seminary. He is also licensed as an ordained minister with the Christian and Missionary Alliance. 

Volunteering

Jeremy is dedicated to making life better for all Calgarians, and has extensive experience working with Indigenous communities, new immigrants, and low income families.

Jeremy has volunteered on various non-profit boards and committees, such as the School of Public Policy Alumni Council, the Calgary Chinese Christian Business and Professional Association, and multiple neighbourhood electoral constituency associations. During his time as a community pastor, he led volunteer efforts in collaboration with organizations such as the Alpha House, the Mustard Seed, the Drop-In Centre, the Calgary Chinese Alliance Chinese School, and the Huntington Heights Community Association.
